Name: Sara Jo Pietraszewski Birthplace: Whidbey Island, Washington Currently Lives: Seattle Family: My husband, Joe, and our dogs, Kali and Carter, who are English Setters. I also love to spoil my niece and nephew! When I’m not at school I like to: travel, read all kinds of books, cheer for the Seattle Mariners, hike, bike, go camping, and organize things. Education: I received my undergraduate degree in History and English at Hillsdale College in Michigan. Later, I completed my Masters in Teaching from the University of Puget Sound. Teaching Experience: I’ve been teaching fourth grade at Sunny Hills Elementary School in Sammamish since 2003. It is an amazing place! The students, families, and staff that I get to work with are incredible. Before that, I worked for a few years at middle and elementary schools (both public and private) while completing my Master’s degree in Tacoma. I'm currently in the classroom half-day and spending the other portion as the Program Assistant for Sunny Hills Elementary School. Favorite Things about Teaching: Our field trip to the International District in Seattle, writing our Pacific-Rim Animal Research Projects, and the day students finally understand 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication.

When I’m not at school I like: cooking, reading, attending my son’s and husband’s soccer games, exercising, and going to the Marymoor Dog Park with Adi! Education: I received my teaching degree in Elementary Education at the University of Utah and I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Gifted Education through Seattle Pacific University. Teaching Experience: Since earning my teaching degree six years ago at the University of Utah, I have taught 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade in two different states. More recently, I have been teaching the SAGE program at Sunny Hills since the fall of 2006. Favorite Things about Teaching: Being a life-long learner by learning something new with the students every day, adjusting my teaching to meet the needs of each individual student that I am honored to have in the classroom, and the unique experience that each day brings.
