Rules
The students established the following guidelines and rules for our room
this year. We hope these remind everyone in our class to make the best
decisions they can to help their own learning and the learning of others.
Respect
Others!
Be Ready to
Learn – always!
Think About
Other People Instead of Yourself!
Weekly Homework Expectations
During a normal week students are expected
to complete about 40 – 45 minutes of homework an evening. Each evening
(Monday – Thursday) students are expected to read a book for at least 20
minutes. In addition, they should study their spelling words for that
week. Rarely, will students have homework over the weekend. There is
usually one additional assignment that follows the framework below. Book
projects are done at home.
Monday: Keyboarding Homework assigned – due on
Thursday.
Tuesday: Math and other homework
as assigned
Wednesday: Math and other homework
as assigned
Thursday: Math and other homework
as assigned
Friday Study Hall
If students do not have all their weekly work completed by Friday morning,
they are required to stay in during
afternoon recess to catch-up.
Clipboard and Assignment Completion
I have a clipboard placed near
the homework basket which lists student names and the week’s tasks. As work
comes into the basket, I will check it off and put it aside to grade. This
is a simple way for students to see what work has been completed. Encourage
your student to check the clipboard frequently---it is their responsibility
to know what assignments they might be missing. In addition, missing
assignments will be communicated to you on my weekly Friday update. Please
sign this update and return it to the classroom the following week.
Weekly
Newsletter and Updates
Classroom news and details
about upcoming projects will be communicated to you in a letter that
accompanies the weekly update every Friday. If we have a short week then
there is not always this communication piece. Also, please utilize our
classroom website for documents etc.
